From The Pastor's Desk
We welcome you to the West End experience. West End is a church that’s large enough to enjoy so many of God’s wonderful blessings, yet small enough to care. Here at God’s house, you will find the Word, praise and thanksgiving.
We invite you to tune in with us at your convenience. If you are in the area please visit us at 845 Lawton St. NW in Atlanta. All are welcome. If you are already a Christian, we invite you to come and seek a closer walk with Jesus Christ. If you are not yet a Christian we invite you to tune in or come by and find Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior.
We hope as you view all our services your soul will be blessed, your life will be molded more like His life, and that you’ll be inspired as you worship with us.
Yours Truly,
Pastor Calvin B. Preston
Our pastor was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. Upon completion from high school, he obeyed the voice of the Holy Spirit to go and preach the gospel in all the world. Graduating from Oakwood College in 1975, the South Atlantic Conference extended him a call to pastor the Emmanuel SDA Church in Albany. Georgia. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, a beautiful church/daycare complex was purchased. After three years in Albany, the desire to further his education carried him to Andrews University where he earned a MA Degree in Church Administration.
From Andrews his next assignment was the Raleigh/Wilson district in North Carolina. Here a beautiful edifice was built. In Greensboro, North Carolina and Atlanta Maranatha he spearheaded a beautification program to remodel the churches. Then he took a short detour for six year to serve as Secretary of the Conference. For the last ten years he has pastured the Bethany SDA Church in Macon, Georgia. From renovating the old church and purchasing a new church, he filled the pews with missing and new members.
His hobbies are reading, meeting people, traveling and sports. He is married to Wynona Preston of Akron, Ohio. She currently works for Fulton County Schools as a Media Specialist. They have three delightful children, Devon, DeNeil (Oakwood College) and DeShawn (Freshman at Oakwood).
Pastor Preston’s motto is: “Never give up” and “ “I will survive.” His favorite Bible text is: “We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who loves us.”
