Women's Conference 2008
This conference was vivifying, electrifying and insatiable. All of the presenters had each and every woman on the edge of their seats. It was vivifying because we all interacted with one another and got to know each other. It was electrifying because you could feel the electricity flowing from presenter to the women who were very attentive to what was being said. It was insatiable because the woman couldn’t get enough of the food, not physical food, which was offered.
It was a magnetic time, the first in the history of our church. We need to have more of these conferences for the women of the church. Sister Wynona Preston and Sister Tara Carter spearheaded the whole affair. The conference must have been God inspired, because the presenters related to every woman in that auditorium.
Let me expound a little bit on the presenters.
The first presenter was Sister Joetta Preston. She dealt with the topic of keeping it hot. She told the women to always take time out for you even if it is 15 minutes a day. Keep physically fit and above all things put away a small nest egg for future purposes. She also told us to eat the right food, take supplements and exercise at least thirty minutes during the day.
The second presenter was Sister Carolyn Hinson. She talked about the sisters in gold. She turned seventy-eight a couple of weeks ago and still looks like she is 50. She addressed the new wave of how women come into church. It seemed like modesty has gone out the window. She also runs or jogs at least five times a week and has participated in the Peachtree road race a number of times. Those of us who are or close to her age could take a page from her.
The third presenter was Sister Jacqueline Ross. She talked about discombobulated. I had to look up that word even though I heard it before I could not remember the meaning. To discombobulate means to throw someone in a state of confusion. She stated that she is still on her honeymoon. Now that would discombobulate me, because I felt that after a number of years the honeymoon would be over. She said that she had been married for 41 or 42 years and still has a honeymoon mentality. She did, however, give a few tips on how to maintain a honeymoon mentality, but this is not the time to go into it.
The fourth presenter was Sister Judith McCoy. She talked about being fire smart. She was as real as one can get. She let her hair down, kicked off her shoes sort to speak and came amongst us. She became like Paul, she talked to us on a level that a lot of us could understand as well as relate too. The gloves were off and she was real. She told it like it was. She expounded on rearing children and loving them unconditionally. She also talked about life in general. Her viability and tenacity was very infectious and well received. Whenever she spoke, the women were hanging on her every word.
